Cathy Grossl, who has a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, has been our manager since 2003. Prior to her five years in the retail nursery business, she has had landscape maintenance and wholesale nursery experience. She enjoys increasing her own knowledge and sharing what she learns with others. Both customers and employees comment on her friendliness and helpful attitude. Although only a petite 5 foot tall, she easily hauls trees with the tractor and bobcat and is not afraid to get her hands dirty.
Lou Gay, who annually creates and oversees the maintenance of almost 500 custom baskets and planters, has been with the Greenhouse for the past 21 seasons, starting only one year after The Greenhouse opened its doors. She has an eclectic background and truly loves being creative and making sure that customers are satisfied with their end product. Many customers return yearly just to have Lou replant their baskets and to 'talk plants', as she loves to experiment in her own garden and share what she has learned. Her signature baskets are recognized throughout the valley and as far north as Preston and south to Salt Lake City.
Sara (Nelson) Gentry has worked in the retail nursery business for six years. In spring of 2008 she completed one year toward her Master's degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at USU. She loves working with plants and learning as much as she can about the ways plant materials can enhance our environment. In two years she plans on graduating and would like to combine her interests in habitat restoration and community planning. While her thesis will focus on riparian habitats, she is particularly interested in studying and providing green habitat for birds.
Charla Monds, who holds a degree in Graphic Design, has now had four years of retail nursery experience at The Greenhouse. She specializes in koi ponds and pond materials and in native and water wise plants. Her outgoing and positive attitude makes all customers feel welcome to The Greenhouse. In addition to being a fun employee to work with, she loves helping people choose plant materials that meet their needs and enhance their home and their lives.
Cindy Allen first came to The Greenhouse eighteen years ago at the beginning of her career with an eagerness to learn. After a few years of experience elsewhere, she returned in the spring of 2008 with an even greater passion for plants and an enhanced knowledge base. She is an expert on the unique joys and problems of Cache Valley gardening. During the winter months she is affectionately known as “The Voice of Beaver Mt.” since she announces the daily weather and snow report for the resort. She loves to share her enthusiasm for plants and gardening with customers and many of them have expressed the view we share that they are glad to have her back!
Helen Muntz comes to The Greenhouse with a degree in Biology and research experience in the area of native and water wise plants. She has also spent time working at a Salt Lake City nursery. Her special interest lies in educating youth about their natural surroundings. She is now out learning as much as she can in the area of plant life and she too loves sharing her knowledge with customers.
Sherri Jones holds a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture with a design/build emphasis from BYU - Idaho. Although this is her first season at The Greenhouse, Sherri brings with her some residential design experience and she does a great job helping customers design their landscapes. She will also study Landscape Architecture this fall at USU.
Terri Strong started with the Greenhouse in March 2008. Her past experience includes working at another nursery in the valley and helping to create framing for fine artwork. She too loves learning about plants as evidenced in her desire to memorize the Greenhouse Catalogue! This year she planted many of our hanging baskets and loves to help customers create their own annual and perennial gardens.
Mary Holden comes in the spring after ski season is over to help prep the baskets for Lou´s specialty planting. She works hard behind the scenes but is a key ingredient in the production of baskets and planters. Her creativity is reflected in her own yard.
All of our employees work hard to produce and maintain quality plant materials. They also enjoy sharing their passion for plants and their knowledge with customers. They are greatly appreciated by the owners and the community!
